UPDATED PHOTOS OF SCHMIEGEL – June 2011

Schmiegel is ready for his forever home. He has gained 7 pounds and is finishing his water therapy for his weak little hind legs this week thanks to the compassion of Dr.Russell at PETPT and his great staff. Dr.Russell donated the therapy and his consult. Yeah Dr. Russell!

Schmiegel is a regular little puppy now although his teeth for a three month old puppy have not yet grown as they should. With some good nutrition and TLC, he will go through, the vet assured me,a growth spurt.

Schmiegel loves everyone and other dogs and cats. He goes into his crate every night at 9:00 and sleeps through without a problem until about 6:00 am. He will be neutered, microchipped and given his rabies the week before he is adopted to the lucky adopter who gets approved to take this beautiful creature.

Schmiegel is going to be fostered by Camp Bow Wow in Cherry Hill .

They fell in love with him and he will be socialized with all the other doggies there. What a great BOARDING FACILITY!!!

Schmiegel will get his day in court on Wed, June 1 at l:00 pm in Lindenwold. The owner of Available Animal Control, the animal control for Lindenwold at the time Schmiegel was found will be testifying on behalf of Schmiegel.

Thanks to ALL who donated on his behalf for his special food, vet visits, three days in intensive care, and his other special needs.

SCHMIEGEL “PRECIOUS” SAYS THANKS

If interested in adopting Schmiegel, you must fill out a dog application.

ORGINAL STORY ABOUT Schmiegel – We need $2000 by the end of June. On May 10, Animal Control was called by Lindenwold Police to investigate a neighbor’s complaint about a small puppy chained in a yard for last three weeks with no food or water living in its own excrement. Animal Control, responded to the address of Dominique Dillard of Lindenwold where he found a cachectic eight week old lab/pit mix. The owner surrendered the puppy to animal control whereupon the pup was taken immediately to hospital where pup did not register a temperature he was so cold and comatose. Animal Control convinced attending vet to try to save the puppy and left puppy at hospital. On May 11, Animal Control contacted NJ Aid for Animals to see if we could assist the sick and starving puppy if it lived through the night. The puppy did live through the night and was surrendered to NJ Aid for Animals who checked him in to an emergency 24 hour hospital where the puppy could receive round the clock supportive care. On Saturday, May 14, Schmiegel was released to NJ Aid for Animals. Schmiegel named for his beautiful “precious” eyes, was just able to stand up yesterday, Sunday May 15. He will require some physical therapy (probably swimming) to get his legs that have atrophied working again..
