LOCAL VET HOLDS FUNDRAISER AND ADOPTION EVENT FOR ABUSED DOG
“EVERY THING SWEET FOR PEA”
MT LAUREL, NJ – (May 8, 2015) Bring your sweet tooth to Mount Laurel Animal Hospital & 24 Hour Emergency Service who is hosting a fundraiser and adoption (rain or shine) event Sunday, May 31, 2015 from Noon to 2:00 at their 220 Mount Laurel Road, Mount Laurel, NJ facility for a dog abused and left for dead in Camden, NJ.
NJ Aid for Animals rushed the pit mix to MLAH in April where a team of vet techs and vets lead by Dr. Marcy Rose worked on saving “Sweet Pea”, given the moniker for her sweet disposition despite gaping wounds that could not even be sewn. Swathed in bandages almost on her entire body Sweet Pea spent three days in emergency care.
Said Dr. Rose known for her love of the pit bull breed, “This is one of the worst bait dog survivors I have seen in my career, but she will make it”.
And make it she did. Now Sweet Pea is getting her own adoption event where she will be the only dog for adoption so plan to attend, meet her then fill out an application. If you aren’t able to give Pea (as she is affectionately referred to by the staff of MLAH whose hearts she has won) a home now, come on out anyway and enjoy hand packed ice cream from yes “Sweet Pea Ice Cream” and their eco-friendly truck, cupcakes decorated just for Sweet Pea, tons of baked goods, candy and everything sweet.
Guests can also meander the beautiful grounds of MLAH and feed the farm animals or just enjoy the day while raisings funds to pay for Sweet Pea’s treatment.
Any funds raised over the amount of Pea’s treatment have been designated to be put toward a newly formed program at MLAH the “Sweet Pea” Program to fund abused and abandoned animals in the future so her legacy will continue. Sadly, Pea’s abusers were never found.
