November 9, 2011 – Marlton, NJ – The leading animal protection charity in Camden City, NJ Aid for Animals, (NJAFA) in partnership with Whole Foods Market, Marlton and Burger Fence Company, Mantua, are raising funds for the recycling of wood fencing remnants into doghouses for dogs in Camden City.
The doghouses, which include a door flap and straw for bedding donated from NJAFA, will provide much needed shelter for dogs forced to live outside in the elements. Now until December 31, 2011, Whole Foods Market, Marlton, will donate the funds from their on-going “Nickels for Non-Profits” campaign to the Camden City Doghouse Project. The “Nickels for Non Profits” program encourages store patrons to “go green” by providing a financial incentive to customers who utilize re-useable shopping bags. This incentive is a 5 cent credit per re-useable bag which customers may then donate to NJAFA. NJAFA will use the funds to purchase wooden doghouses at a considerable discount from Burger Fence Company who will deliver the houses to NJAFA.
In 2007, NJAFA and Whole Foods Market in Marlton raised enough money to place fifty doghouses in Camden City. According to Kathy McGuire, President of NJAFA, “We still need to raise money for many, many more doghouses. For 2011 with the help of partners and the patrons of Whole Foods, Marlton, we hope to meet or exceed the number for 2007. Please remember NJAFA, and the environment when shopping at Whole Foods Market in Marlton.”
