DOGS CHAINED IN S. JERSEY

After acting on a tip from a private citizen, NJAFA volunteers visited a home where these two dogs, “Big Daddy” and “Rascal” had been chained for almost a decade. We worked with the owner to educate her keeping her dog properly. We offered to give the dogs new dog houses and purchase and erect fencing for the two dogs. She agreed to let us do the project and asked her to sign a contract that she would not chain the dogs again and keep sufficient food/water for them.

These two boys are very happy for the first time in their lives off tow chains and in new dog houses. We treated them for fleas and even have an appointment for the old retriever to be groomed. The owner has even said she “may think” about bringing them in the house this winter if she could housebreak them. NJAFA will supply her with crates and information on how to do that.

This was a win/win for the owner, NJAFA and most certainly these lucky dogs!! The fencing although given to NJAFA for a good price (thanks to Burger Fence Company in Sewell, NJ) was still costly. It is through your donations we can help animals such as Big Daddy and Rascal.
