It is with much regret to inform you that Chance, one of the three pits that NJAFA rescued from a dog fighting ring working in conjunction with Salem County Prosecutor’s Office in 2008, has passed away. The only fighting Chance did from 2008 to now is for his life which included tons of medicine for his allergies and poor auto immune system that his loving adopters paid thousands for to keep him healthy because his abuser Khalil Spikes tortured and fought him.

Chance’s constant medical problems didn’t deter his wiggly butt and happy personality with his loving family as evidenced by these pictures.

When Salem Detectives arrived at the scene with warrants for other non related dog fighting they stumbled upon a fight in progress. Chance was one of the dogs in the ring.

Seven dogs were confiscated, four put down at a local shelter and NJAFA took three, Chance, Noel and Miracle Whip. When we took them in at NJAFA during the holidays of 2008, all three were very sick and in particular Noel. She was in critical care at Delaware Valley Vet Hospital and thanks to the tenacity of Dr. Milden, when I thought Noel would not see Christmas, Dr. Milden said let me try something else. Noel and Miracle Whip were sent to our friends in Texas. Chance got a great home with Jen and her family.

Please search “Khalil Spikes” to read the articles about Chance and to read the speech I delivered to the courtroom, while an astonished Khalil Spikes looked on. For all the pits that died and for all before them, love and honor to you all.
