Pets in the City

This once a year event, Pets in the City, provides FREE life-saving vaccines for pet owners in Camden City. Since 2012 just at this event alone, we have vaccinated 2,057 pets (1,710 dogs and 347 cats).  That is an average of 342 pets vaccinated in a SINGLE DAY each year! In addition to a vaccine, pets receive collars, leashes and flea treatment. This annual care is more than just protection from disease and pests but it is peace of mind for the pet owner. RIP Bleu, Shorty and Goldi September 25, 2012 – We are heartbroken to report that our efforts to save Bleu, Shorty and Goldi were unsuccessful. Late Sunday night, the sanctuary where they were to live out their lives withdrew their agreement to take the dogs, citing a Board decision to work instead to reduce the number of dogs in their care. The City of Philadelphia chose not to give our team another opportunity to secure an alternate sanctuary. With the city shelter at capacity, and the 3 dogs occupying space that could be taken by others, the dogs were euthanized....

Billboards Operation Knock Out

Operation Knock Out HISTORY In 2009 after traversing through Camden City since 2003 and trying to encourage people to get their pit bulls spayed and neutered, Kathy McGuire had an idea to put someone on a billboard that would be a role model for people with pit bulls to do the responsible thing and get their dogs fixed. Dog Fighter Convicted

NO SECOND CHANCES NJ Aid for Animals was in court yesterday (9/8/09) to represent the three pitbulls that were victims in a dog fighting ring. The now convicted animal abuser, Khalil Spikes, pleaded guilty to a 3rd degree crime of “Fighting or baiting animals….keep a place to be used for purpose of fighting or baiting a living creature; permit or suffer a place owned by him; for amusement or gain; cause or permit fighitng or baiting a living animal, knowingly own, train, possess a living amimal for fighting”.
