April 2010 - Potential adopters and/or shelters who allow "rescues" to pull from their shelters.

Please read this timely article from American Humane.(CLICK HERE TO READ ARTICLE) So called "rescuers" like Bobbi Jo Falcone and Jessica Durkin who make themselves sound so magnanimous that they "rescue" animals when in fact people like them are "brokers" they give us all a bad name.

Too, just because a legitimate rescue has a 50lc3 does not make them responsible. Many 50lc3's who also call themselves responsible rescuers don't even spay or neuter their animals before adopting them. Moreover, they charge ridiculous adoption fees.

Please, if you are adopting an animal from a private rescue, be sure it is spayed or neutered. If you are a shelter allowing individuals to "pull", please perform due diligence and check the background of these "rescues" and/or individuals.

March 2010

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you profusely for joining our Coalition to Protect NJ Black Bears from the December 2010 recreational/trophy hunt.

The next few months are going to be a critical time for our cause. That being said, we would like to make sure that your organization is fully represented by including your “official” logo in our promotional materials and official correspondence. If possible, please send a copy of your logo as an attachment.

Soon we will be sending out alerts for vitally needed activism. We know that bear hunting in NJ is highly political, and the overwhelming voice of the public against bear hunting is key. We would appreciate your forwarding our alerts to all your members, particularly those who are NJ residents.

If you'd like to link our website to your own, please do, as updates will be noted there: www.savenjbears.com

Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you in advance for your support and assistance to help protect NJ black bears.

Best Regards,
Allyson Albinson

CONGRATULATIONS

March 2010 - Since March, 2008, NJ Aid for Animals along with their partner Atlantic Co. SPCA has been spaying and neutering feral cats at the NJ Aid for Animals Sanctuary in S. Jersey

Celebrating their two year anniversary at the March Clinic, scores of volunteers show up to help trap, recover and comb and brush every cat before it is given back to the caregivers.

Trapping and releasing the feral cats and trying to socialize the ones we can, this project "For Ferals Only" has been a huge success.

Dr. Honey Rothberg led the charge in March, 2008 when she volunteered for our first Free Spay/Neuter Day in Camden City on the Big Rig. Little did she know TWO YEARS later to the day she and her colleague Dr. Helen Campbell would still be spaying and neutering feral cats!

It is because of her dedication and leadership of this endeavor that we have been able to keep it cohesive and effective.

This is a picture of one of our volunteers holding one of our little babies after it has come out of surgery.

A nurse monitors every cat coming out of surgery and caregivers only have to pay for the wholesale price of a suture or a shot.

This partnership has literally saved thousands of cats from being born. Inching toward our 1,000 mark, we hope to keep the project going for a long time.
