PAST EVENTS & THANK YOUS
July 2009 - Hi Kathy - My name
is Carmen Santos and I am a Camden resident. I recently took my
dog to get the free vaccination about a week ago in Cramer Hill.
As far as the clinic goes, it was a wonderful experience. I
usually take my dog to the vet, but due to circumstances I was
unable to afford it. I found out about the event from the signs
that were being posted in the area and I happened to drive by
there that morning. People should really support you guys for what
you do, a little donation goes a long way. The staff was quick and
polite, especially on that day when the heat was unbearable. The
food came in really handy, my dog Symba is very happy with it. I
will be going to the next event for sure for his rabies shot. Keep
up the good work. We need the positive stories in Camden to be
focused on more.
Thank You

l3th Annual Fun Dog Show at Steve and Cookies by the Bay in Margate |
|
A BIG
DOGGY THANK YOU TO COOKIE AND HER FABULOUS STAFF AT STEVE AND COOKIES BY THE
BAY
IN MARGATE, NEW JERSEY FOR HOSTING THE THIRTEEN ANNUAL FUN DOG SHOW
A wonderful day was had by all. Despite a somewhat soggy and windy start,
the day blossomed into one of the best events ever!
NJ Aid for Animals supporters and friends had a grand time walking through
the Fall Festival, having some great grub at S & C, sitting in Oyster Bar
with our four legged friends and of course, watching the FABULOUS dog show
hosted by Margate Chief of
Police, David Wolfson.
Then as the afternoon ended, a few of us relaxed on the bay watching the sun
go down.
We cannot thank Cookie and her staff that works so hard. The event is over
at 3:00 and they have to turn the entire parking lot and restaurant around
to serve at 5:00.
The money that is raised is VITAL to our budget for the year.
If you want a wonderful meal in a gorgeous setting visit Steve and Cookies

NJ AID FOR ANIMALS HOLDS ITS 3rd
FREE VACCINE CLINIC FOR DOGS AND CATS IN CAMDEN CITY,NJ
Over l00 dogs and cats were given free rabies and
distemper shots on Saturday, September l2. Free flea preventative was
also given to all dogs
Thirty dogs were signed up by their owners to be spayed or neutered and
about a dozen cats. We also were able to give emergency assistance
(fluids) to a sick dog who was later taken to Mt. Laurel.
Over l00 collars and leashes were given away and about 3,000 pounds of
food.
NJ Aid for Animals wishes to thank the many volunteers including the vet
who donated their time and worked very hard to make this event happen.
We are planning a very large event for the Spring to prevent the PARVO
virus from infecting the dogs of Camden in the hot summer of 2010. Watch
this site for details.
FREE SHOT CLINIC
On Wednesday, July 29, NJ Aid for Animals
held its second free shot clinic for Camden City Animals with their
guests Chow Hounds and friends from Atlantic City SPCA. Camden City
Animal Control was also on hand to help us with the over 200 residents
that showed up.
It was the most well attended animal event ever held in City of Camden.
Through NJ Aid for Animals PEP (Pet Enrichment Program) which provides
dogs and cats in Camden City much needed services that will enrich their
lives, NJAFA and more than 30 volunteers including a vet and 2 Atlantic
City SPCA agents worked from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm to give away more than
TWO HUNDRED free shots to dogs to prevent the very contagious and often
fatal disease PARVO. We vaccinated almost FORTY puppies who are the most
vulnerable to this disease and signed up over 50 animals to be spayed or
neutered. We also vaccinated dozens of cats and kittens.
We gave away free flea treatment which although only good for one month
will provide some relief in this horrible heatwave we are having,
thousands of pounds of dog and cat food and dozens of collars and
leashes.
We are planning another very large event in September.

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP RABIES CLINIC
Kathy McGuire attended the annual free rabies clinic on
January 24. There information about parvo, distemper
shots, proper shelter for dogs, leaving animals in car,
dog fighting, spay and neuter was given out to over 450
residents who showed up to take advantage of the free
rabies for their animals.
This is a wonderful opportunity for rescue organizations
to reach out to the community. Kathy directed over 30
people to local clinics for distemper shots and answered
questions from the residents non stop for four hours.
Five people who wanted to but could not afford to get
their female dogs spayed will be covered by NJ Aid for
Animals at a local vet who is offering to help us. As
most of you may know, the cost of a spay for dogs at
most low cost clinics are not covered for a PAIN SHOT OR
MEDS.
A sponsor has stepped forward who could not think of
spaying a poor female dog without pain med and is
augmenting the cost of pain meds for ten female dogs.
